Hi! Welcome to my Website!
Short Bio: I graduated with my B.A. from Smith College and Ph.D. from Dartmouth College. This year (2026-27) will be my 28th year (holy cow!!) at Rice University, where I am the Martha and Henry Malcolm Lovett Professor of Psychological Sciences with an appointment in the Jones School and an adjoint appointment in the Leeds Business School at UC-Boulder (yay, Colorado!). My research focuses on workplace discrimination and the ways both individuals and organizations can remediate such discrimination and successfully manage diversity. My career has been a busy one, with 250 publications, 21 teaching awards (including the national award called the Cherry Award), research grants from NSF and NIH, and several gender-related research awards. But there is NO DOUBT that the very best part has been meeting, training, and helping the fabulous undergraduate and graduate Rice University students along the way and seeing them excel. Woot Woot! • Eden King won the SIOP Humanitarian award. • Abby Corrington was just awarded tenure at Providence College Business School! • Enrica Ruggs was named an Associate Editor at Journal of Management • Eden King and I recently published a new book called "Working Together: Practicing the Science of DEI" • Exciting news for former Hebl thesis students!!! Claire Sandman Malcomb is a professor at St. Edward's University. Malak Qaradeh will be heading to the PhD program at Michigan State. Hannah Kim is in the PhD program at Purdue University, Tania Garcia-Jasso is in the masters program at Rice, Maiana Castro is in the PhD program at University of Houston, and Kennedy Hart, is currently in the PhD program at USF and also won the NSF!
